Solar Activity
Ok, so I do not by any means claim to be an expert in astrology or have had scientific
training from NASA. But, I have studied the solar system for several years now. There is
so much information out there that will blow your mind. So I am going to try and keep
this as simple as I can.
As paranormal investigators, our team pays attention to solar activity. There are many
factors that play a role in paranormal activity in whatever part of the world you are in.
Solar activity can feed paranormal activity during certain events. The assistance from
our solar system is largely based on radiation, ionization, and magnetic fields. The sole
contributor to all of this activity is the Sun.
The Sun, as you know, is the star that keeps our solar system alive. Without the Sun we
would not exist. There are also other dangers that the Sun can impose on our tiny little
planet. The Sun consists of hydrogen, helium, and other elements that make up its
enormous mass. The surface of the Sun is very hot, but a weird anomaly that occurs in
the Transition Region and Corona layer, is the temperature increases drastically. This
is weird because the Corona layer is the outermost layer in the Suns atmosphere.
Extreme magnetic field surround the Suns surface and atmosphere.
One term you might recognize is a “Sunspot”. These are colder regions of the surface
that have intense magnetic activity. Sunspots are seen as groups of black holes or
body’s. A phenomena that roots from sunspots are Coronal Mass Ejections (CME) [a].
Scientists believe that CMEs are massive ejections of magnetic energy that are shot out
of the Suns atmosphere at variable speeds.
Another term that might be familiar is “Solar Flares”. Solar flares [b] are associated with
CMEs by sharing a similar magnetic energy. Solar flares are explosions within the
atmosphere of the Sun that release energy into the solar system at almost the speed of
light. The solar flares emit high levels of radiation that affect all layers of the
electromagnetic spectrum ranging from radio waves to gamma rays. The radiation
exposure in the upper atmospheres of the Earth can be deadly to humans without the
proper protection…hence the astronauts sophisticated suits and gold visors.
So what does all of this mean? When the Sun is in its normal rotation, we pay attention
to the active sunspots that rotate in sequence with the Sun and when one of these
groups of sunspots are aimed towards Earth, there is a potential risk of a solar flare
occurring at the same time. This means all of the radiation that a solar flare produces
will be aimed right at Earth. Almost like looking down the barrel of a gun.
When this occurs, this scenario is documented as a “geomagnetic storm” [c]. Earth also
has a “Magnetosphere” that aids in deflecting a large amount of the solar flare in all
directions, sending the radiation out into space in infinite distances. The radiation that
is not deflected is absorbed into the upper layers of Earths atmospheres. This is why
we have a layer called the “Ionosphere” [d].
The Ionosphere is a layer in the atmosphere that is ionized by solar radiation as a
result of solar flares and CMEs. After an Earth directed solar flare takes place, the
Ionosphere becomes more intense, creating higher levels of electromagnetic energy
within our atmosphere. Higher class solar flares, like Class M and Class X, can pose
affects on earth and our environment. Radios, cell phones, and satellites can all be
impaired during a high class solar flare. When you see the green pictures of the
“northern lights” that is actually called an Aurora, which is basically solar wind and
radiation passing by Earths magnetic poles and skimming the upper layers of our
atmosphere.
So how does all of this relate to the paranormal field? I was wondering when you were
going to ask that. So think about a Class M or X solar flare aimed at Earth and all of the
radiation/electromagnetic energy that charges our atmosphere. What do spirits use to
manifest themselves with…electromagnetic energy. Studies have shown there are
higher levels of paranormal activity when Earth is encountering geomagnetic storms.
The same concept applies when you have lightning storms in your area and you are
out on an investigation. The environment has a higher level of ionization, creating a
perfect environment to catch that pesky ghost you have been looking for.
If you are serious about ghost hunting, you want to be open minded but also research
different factors that might assist your team in walking away from a paranormal location
with outstanding evidence and maybe some personal experiences as well. When storm
chasers go out looking for the perfect storm, they don’t grab a camera and hit the road.
They study the atmospheric conditions and make educated decisions on how they will
proceed. The same idea applies to ghost hunting. The future of ghost hunting will lead
towards more scientific research and legitimate evidence by the use of evolving
